IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society is a world-leading centre for research and teaching in social science and education, ranked number one for education worldwide in the 2022 QS World University Rankings for the ninth year running. The Education Studies Programme is based at the world-leading Institute Of Education. This highly rated interdisciplinary degree draws on history, philosophy, sociology, and psychology to provide students with the critical tools necessary to reflect on education, society and culture. This programme was recently ranked number 1 for the ‘Education’ subject area in The Guardian’s ‘Best UK universities for education’ league table’ 2021.
We are looking to appoint one new Lecturer to lead and teach on core and optional modules and to develop new options on the BA Education Studies degree programme. The appointee will serve as a personal tutor and undergraduate dissertation supervisor, and may be expected to develop programme leadership roles and support student placements. The successful candidate may contribute to other undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Faculty, as appropriate. There will also be opportunities to undertake doctoral supervision.
You will make a significant contribution to the development and teaching of the BA Education Studies as well as supporting students in their transition to higher education, progression through their degree and career development through personal tutoring. You will be at the forefront of international developments in learning and teaching, including Distance Learning, and innovative assessment methodologies.

The successful candidate will have a doctorate in Education or in a cognate discipline in the social sciences or humanities. You will provide evidence of a strong background in teaching in the field of Education and/or related areas in the social sciences or humanities, and a proven track record of teaching successfully at higher education level. In addition, you have the ability to bring innovation and research into teaching and curriculum development and design at all levels, working with students from diverse contexts and cultural backgrounds.
