The post holder will be responsible for the strategic direction for postgraduate medical education, planning and leadership to the Medical Education Team in University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP). Including providing guidance and senior management support to the Director of Medical Education (DME), Foundation Programme Directors (FPD), Specialty & College Tutors and Medical Educational and Clinical Supervisors.

The role focuses on the interpretation and implementation of national policies and current legislation relating to medical training and service level agreements in association with Health Education England South West (HEE-SW) and other organisations as necessary.

Management responsibility for the design, delivery and evaluation of professional high quality teaching activity, training programmes, continuing professional development activity, induction and skills training for junior doctors / educational and clinical supervisors, Associate Specialists (SAS) and Physician Associates, as per the Education Contract, in conjunction with the Director of Medical Education (DME) and in line with UHP’s strategy. The postholder is responsible for developing strategies which align with national policy from DoH, Postgraduate Medical Education, General Medical Council, The Royal Colleges and HEE-SW- working under strict restrictions/guidelines to organise and deliver education activity/exams.
