The University has an exciting opportunity for a Student Adviser to join the Student Support Office within Moray House School of Education and Sport. You will join a team of five Student Advisers who are delivering support services to our undergraduate and postgraduate taught student community therefore you should be able to work independently and as part of a team. Applicants should submit three documents: a CV, a brief covering letter and a personal statement. The personal statement should detail how you meet each of the essential criteria as outlined in the ‘Knowledge, Skills and Experience’ section of the job description. It is suggested that this is structured a series of headings listing each criteria accompanied by a short paragraph for each, providing examples of where your skills and experience meet each of these competencies.
The Opportunity:
The Student Adviser provides a first contact point for a defined cohort of students within the School, providing guidance and support, including additional assistance where needed, to those navigating the University support systems.
Your skills and attributes for success:
HNC/HND or equivalent level qualifications plus previous relevant work experience, or broad experience, acquired through a combination of job related training and considerable on-the-job experience, demonstrating development through involvement in progressively more demanding relevant work/roles.
Knowledge of and sensitivity to the complex areas of student wellbeing and support
Constructive team player, demonstrating ability to work collaboratively
Strong commitment to equality and inclusion
Ability to understand the need for boundary setting when working with students
