nAssistant Director for Ancillary Services n
n
As a key member of McKinley’s executive team, the Assistant Director plays a strategic role in supporting the overall management of administrative and clinical services at McKinley Health Center.
n
The Assistant Director for Ancillary Services provides direct leadership and management support for: Building Services, Central Supply, Laboratory, Pharmacy and Radiology at McKinley Health Center.

nMajor Duties and Responsibilities: n
n
nI. Budget, Financial and Human Resource Activities (15%) n
n
A. Supports the fiscal operations in designated units to ensure compliance with relevant laws and business practices.
n
B. Develops the annual budget in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Finance and Health Information Services and designated accounting staff.
n
C. Provides fiscal guidance to designated units.
n
F. Provides support to the Assistant Director of Finance and Health Information Services related to charges for fee-for-service activities and commodities in Central Supply, Laboratory and Pharmacy.
n
G. Participates in negotiations of memorandums of understanding and business contracts in collaboration the Assistant Director of Finance and Health Information Services and University Purchasing as it relates to designated units.
n
H. Continually assesses cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness as it relates to new and existing unit programs.
n
I. Encourages and provides support to Ancillary Managers
n
nII. Management and Supervisory Duties (60%) n
n
A. Provides unit leadership and supervises the following managers in designated units: Laboratory Operations and Technical Supervisors, Pharmacy Supervisor, Radiology Manager, Central Sterile Supply Technician, Facilities Manager.
n
B. Central Supply: Provides administrative oversight for Central Supply staff and functions. Coordinates cross-training of Certified Medical assistants with the Assistant Director of Clinical Support Service to ensure adequate staffing in Central Supply. Ensures compliance with campus Division of Research Safety (DRS) and OSHA guidelines and standards as they relate to safe practices within the unit.
n
C. Laboratory: Provides administrative oversight for the Laboratory, which includes an Operations Supervisor, Technical Supervisor, Med Tech I’s and phlebotomists. Works collaboratively with the Laboratory Medical Director and Lab Supervisors to provide managerial, budgetary and personnel support. Ensures compliance with College of American Pathologist (CAP) standards.
n
E. Pharmacy: Provides administrative oversight and unit leadership for the Pharmacy, which includes full-time pharmacists and the pharmacy technician support staff. Works collaboratively with the Pharmacy Supervisor nd provides managerial, budgetary and personnel support.
n
F. Radiology: Provides administrative oversight and unit leadership for the Radiology Unit which includes the Radiology Manager and Radiology Techs. Provides purchasing and management oversight and guidance to radiology staff who are responsible for providing radiographic procedures for the university students. Works collaboratively with the Radiology Manager and provides managerial, budgetary and personnel support.
n
G. Building Services: Provides administrative oversight and unit leadership for the Building Services Unit. Works with the facility operations coordinator to determine and prioritize the needs of the Health Center as well as monitoring expenditure of plant funds.
n
nIII. Executive Leadership responsibilities (15%) n
n
A. As a member of the Senior Leadership Group, provides leadership and support in the overall management of administrative and clinical services at McKinley Health Center.
n
B. Ensures compliance with standards defined by the health center, campus, state, federal as well as external agencies. Supports and participates in review processes as they relate to designated units and the Health Center.
n
C. Serves as a resource in the evaluation, selection, procurement, implementation, training and health center-wide adoption of electronic information systems in the Pharmacy, Laboratory and Radiology.
