SHIELD Illinois is actively seeking intrinsically motivated, highly educated scientists with excellent communication skills to join our molecular laboratory team and help solve critical issues that may arise in a diagnostic clinical laboratory.
n
Duties:
n
n
+ Follow testing procedures and policies
n
+ Perform routine and complex procedures outlined in the SOP’s
n
+ Demonstrate accuracy and precision in using single and multi-channel pipettes
n
+ Prepare dilution buffers and create RT-PCR master mix solutions
n
+ Troubleshoot solution prep or hardware related issues
n
+ Learn and understand robotic software and various PCR-related software
n
+ Contribute and communicate with leadership and staff about quality control and compliance improvement projects
n
+ Clean and disinfect laboratory spaces and equipment using molecular, PCR-clean cleaning techniques
n
+ Assist and direct staff in organizing laboratory space
n
+ Ensure and communicate testing inventory supply needs
n
+ Help team with process and accession specimens
n
+ Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Laboratory Director or Research Director
n

Qualifications:
n
Required:
n
n
+ Bachelor’s degree in the Life Sciences (verification of diploma and transcripts required)
n
+ Ability and willingness to lift containers of 50 pounds or less
n
+ Ability and skillset to follow SOP’s and EOP’s
n
+ Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve technical issues while communicating effectively with laboratory staff and leadership team
n
+ Critical thinking skills
n
+ Strong documentation skills
n
+ Ability to thrive in a team-environment and also independently
n
+ Dedicated to the vision of stopping COVID-19
n
Preferred Qualifications:
n
n
+ Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, clinical lab science, or medical technology
n
+ 6 months experience of working in a laboratory experience preferred
n
Pay rate: commensurate with experience
n
Schedule: flexible, up to 40 hrs/wk
n
Locations: Metro Chicago/Rockford/Central IL/Springfield/Champaign Areas
n
