The School of Computing is seeking to appoint part-time Assistant Lecturers who can help us to deliver an excellent standard of education across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in computer science.
Our Computer Science undergraduate course and variants have by far the most students. However, we also have a Year in Computing course and both conversion and specialist postgraduate masters courses. A successful candidate will be expected to be knowledgeable in two or more aspects of our Computer Science teaching. These include: Object Oriented Programming with Java, Web Programming, Mathematics for Computer Science, Software Engineering, Databases, HCI, AI and Cyber Security.
Your primary responsibilities will be the delivery of small group classes, such as seminars, drop in sessions and PC classes, including assisting with the development of teaching materials and methods. You will also have responsibility for marking assessments and some module-related admin.
To Succeed In This Role You Will
These positions are part-time in term time. Please note that the hours are then compressed into 41 weeks in the year, covering all of term time, the week immediately before and after term time and 5 other weeks in vacation.
Annual leave is not normally taken in term time. It is important to stress that effort on in this job is not spread evenly throughout the year and that the successful applicant should expect to work more hours per week in the first two terms than during the third term and University vacation periods.
