This is an exciting opportunity to join the Division of Natural Sciences, with a great career development opportunity offering a degree apprenticeship programme which will result in attaining an FdSc in Applied Biosciences award if completed successfully.
The apprenticeship scheme will be for a 3 year period in line with a standard university degree study programme with the salary for the duration of the study period being within the Grade 3 pay grade, this will start at spine point 10 rising to Grade 4 spine point 13 by the end.
Successful attainment of the FdSc in Applied Biosciences Sciences at the end of the 3 years will lead to the ongoing appointment of a Grade 4 Assistant Technician and the potential opportunity to continue onto the Bsc Honours.
This opportunity involves working as part of a technical support team providing a comprehensive, immediate and specialised support service for staff and students within the Division, and you will support the delivery of timely and effective specialised teaching and research support to students, academic and research staff and visitors to the Division. Working under supervision you will use knowledge and experience to solve simple problems independently ensuring the effective day to day operation of facilities and resources. Prioritising and planning work, whilst communicating in a courteous and professional way, providing excellence customer service. As Assistant Technician, you will have an understanding of health and safety protocols and procedures with the work area, implementing the necessary control measure to ensure a safe working environment.
