This role will be based on the university campus with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
Do you want to play a key role in supporting the success of students, particularly those from underrepresented groups? Are you a well-organised and adaptable individual? Do you want to play a key role in embedding Integrated Learner and Recruitment Service standards and delivering an excellent student experience?
The University of Leeds is one of the top 135 universities in the world. We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities. Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, along with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe.
We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Plus Programme team to increase BAME student engagement with Plus Programme activities and to facilitate more profound student involvement with our Access and Participation provision at the University of Leeds. Arising from a desire to increase the opportunities our students have to guide, monitor and contribute to how we support and recruit students from diverse backgrounds, this role is intended to complement the already strong University/Leeds University Union partnership.
Your role will be to implement and facilitate a specific governance structure, designed to provide students with the opportunity to input into and help mould, the Access and Student Success provision at Leeds. Based on the principles of public involvement/engagement (particularly used within health research). You will build a network of student advisers, facilitating their involvement in the strategic development, delivery and evaluation of all aspects of our Access and Student Success provision.
A complementary element of the role is working with a range of BAME students to review current Plus Programme provision, the Plus Programme is our student success scheme offering support and opportunities to students from under-represented groups at Leeds, proposing changes where appropriate to ensure that the scheme better meets the needs of students of different ethnicities. Key to both areas of the work will be ensuring that robust evaluation is in place to measure its effectiveness. Possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will demonstrate an enthusiasm and commitment for delivering a high level of support for BAME students. You will have effective networking skills and the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels.
