The Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES) is seeking to appoint a fixed-term part-time Lecturer in Higher Education Studies. The Centre is responsible for a large-scale research degree focused on the study of higher education. The Doctor of Education (EdD) programme is a professional doctorate in Higher Education that is offered to students on a fully-online basis, delivered with support from our partner Kaplan Open Learning. The core duties of the post are focused on undertaking supervision of students who are working towards their doctoral theses on the EdD, although you would also be expected to contribute to the wider activity of the Centre, including contributing to panels on the programme (e.g. related to ethical review and to student progress). The responsibilities associated with the post will include the conduct of research to underpin the capacity to supervise doctoral students. You will be a highly motivated individual, with excellent communications, networking, interpersonal and technical skills, working as part of a team to deliver high-quality doctoral education. You will be proactive in developing systems and solutions to problems, liaise with others where appropriate and carry out duties required by the Centre for Higher Education Studies. It will be possible in large part to conduct the responsibilities associated with the post while primarily working remotely from the campus, given that the main duties involve the online supervision of doctoral students. You will be expected to be a UK-resident who is able to attend on-campus meetings as required. The post is available on a 0.5FTE basis but applications would be welcome from individuals who would be interested in undertaking a role equivalent to either 0.2 FTE or 0.3 FTE as part of a job share. The post is available on a fixed term basis, until 30 September 2022.
