About the Faculty of Arts – School of Languages and Linguistics
The School of Languages and Linguistics was formed in 2011 and comprises the programs of ESL, Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, French Studies, European Studies, German Studies, Italian Studies, Russian Studies and Spanish and Latin American Studies. The School also hosts a number of research clusters, such as the Language Testing Research Centre, the Research Unit for Indigenous Languages and the Research Hub for Language in Forensic Evidence. Currently we also host the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Diversity of Language. The School brings together a lively, engaging and vibrant program of teaching and research that offers a wide variety of courses and subjects. We look forward to welcoming you to our team.
About the role
The Administrative Assistant in the School of Languages and Linguistics is a dynamic role that has responsibility for a diverse range of tasks in conjunction with other professional staff in the school. The role is primarily responsible for effective office administration, OHS coordination, facilities support, and maintenance of several communications channels, with support for School HR administration, financial processing, and events as required.
About you
The successful incumbent will reside in the Babel Building and work in collaboration with the School’s academic staff, honoraries and graduate research students as well as the external stakeholders in Faculty and University teams. The role supports the Head of School, School Manager and the Executive Assistant to the Head of School to ensure that interactions between the multiple groups are seamless.
The incumbent will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to balance priorities and competing demands in a busy organisational environment.
