About the Role

The Senior Software Engineer role is primarily responsible for architecting and developing software for our industry and University Customers. The successful candidate will work directly with our partners to understand project requirements, design solutions and deliver them to an agreed project schedule. Our projects are diverse, as are the technologies we use. This role is a great opportunity to develop new technical skills while working on innovative projects, however we expect Senior Engineers to have a solid technical foundation to begin with.

We are currently looking for candidates with strong cloud, web or mobile development skills with a track record of working in a senior role, in small teams, delivering on small to medium projects. Our project pipeline is filling quickly, and we expect to fill additional senior roles for experienced algorithmic and embedded (C/C++ and Python) software developers in the near future, so please also submit an application if you fit this profile.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Leading software development on projects.
• Operating across the full software development lifecycle, from design right through to technical transfer.
• Keeping up to date on established and emerging technologies relating to software development including new platforms, languages and open-source software.
• Applying innovative and creative thinking to propose and implement innovative and suitable prototype technology and features.
• Mentoring junior software engineers.

With examples, please outline in a separate document how you meet the following five (5) key selection criteria points:

1. Production experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure & Amazon AWS and web technologies including JavaScript, React & Node.js
2. Wide knowledge of software technologies; for example, experience using the following technologies: C, C++, Python, C#
3. Demonstrated ability in being able to estimate work from both rigid and loose requirements and demonstrated ability in working productively against deadlines
4. A world class expertise in a particular technology domain relevant to the UTS Rapido such as 3D data processing, data science, UX, cloud SW development, software architecture, computer graphics or other would be highly relevant
5. A good understanding of a standardised software development methodologies
