Job Summary:
The selected individual will support predominantly UW Veterinary Care (along with a variety of zoos and other organizations) through performance in the anatomic pathology services (necropsy and surgical biopsy). He or she will provide mentorship excellence during the training of anatomic pathology residents and significantly contribute to the professional veterinary student instructional program. The selected individual will be expected to develop an active scholarly program. For an individual on the clinical or teaching track, this could include advancing the discipline of anatomic pathology through creation and dissemination of new knowledge and participating in collaborative research by providing pathology expertise to other faculty. For an individual on the tenure track, similar advancement in the field through and teaching innovation and excellence are expected.
Responsibilities:
The selected individual will support UW Veterinary Care through performance of anatomic pathology service and participate in the teaching mission of the School of Veterinary Medicine. They will perform necropsies and evaluate surgical biopsies, completing pathology reports in a timely manner. They will instruct fourth year veterinary students rotating in anatomic pathology, including necropsy service and clinical discussions. They will effectively communicate with clinicians from other hospital services. The individual will participate in training anatomic pathology residents, teaching in the first three years of the veterinary curriculum, and academic service. The selected individual will be expected to develop an active scholarly program through creation and dissemination of new knowledge in anatomic pathology via clinical cases or collaborative research.

Terminal Degree
DVM – Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree.
Qualifications:
ACVP or ECVP Board Certification are required.
A minimum of two years of post-residency experience in diagnostic anatomic pathology preferred but not required.
License/Certification:
Required

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Wisconsin.

The Anatomic Pathology faculty are congenial, team oriented and are excited about the prospects of furthering anatomic pathology services (necropsy and surgical biopsy) at UW-Madison in collaboration with the diverse talents and ideas of new faculty members.

Completion of the addition is projected for 2023.
