Job Summary:
Under the supervision of a Mental Health Leadership Team Member, the Mental Health Provider will provide mental health services in an integrated health care agency serving UW-Madison students across identities and programs. To this end, the Mental Health Provider performs the following:
Principal duties:
1)Provides individual and group therapy services;
2)Participates in the provision of clinical crisis services and on-call mental health services (during business hours);
3)Provides campus-based services/outreach including programming and consultation;
4)Responds to campus crises;
5)Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and to serving under-represented/underserved populations.
Additional options for Direct Clinical Services may include:
1)Provides behavioral health interventions within Medical Services;
2)Provides couple/partner therapy services;
3)Provides supervision of assigned trainees including goal setting, evaluations, and disciplinary action in accordance with training policy and procedures; and
4)Administers and interprets limited assessment measures.
5)Develops teaching relationships with academic departments; and
6)Administers and interprets limited assessment measures.
Administrative Duties
1)Maintains accurate and timely documentation for all clinical interactions and consultations;
2)Involved in the development and implementation of programs and services at MHS ;
3)Collaborates with providers and staff in UHS units and with campus partners;
4)Follows agency policies and procedures consistent with state mental health statutes, ethical guidelines, best practices, HIPAA, and FERPA;
5)Attends staff, and workgroup meetings as assigned;
6)Attends Mental Health sponsored professional development activities;
7)Serves on internal and external committees;
8)Other duties as assigned
Responsibilities:Provides professional mental health counseling and consultation services for the campus community, incorporates a brief therapeutic model to address the emotional and behavioral needs of students, creates developmental programming to increase healthy lifestyle and coping behaviors across campus, and provides strategic direction and advocacy for university mental health policy and initiatives.
65% Provides individual and group counseling to students struggling with developmental and/or personal mental health issues and refers students to appropriate community resources
10% Provides counseling and/or information and referral services to faculty and staff
10% Facilitates psycho-educational and process-oriented groups
10% Prepares presentations and outreach activities and facilitates student adjustment and success programs to promote a healthy campus
5% Serves on multidisciplinary campus committees

Education:
Required
Master’s Degree in Counseling, or other related mental health field
Qualifications:
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: Required: Minimum of one year experience in a mental health setting. Preferred: Minimum of two years’ experience in a mental health setting.
Strongly preferred experiences of the candidate include:
1)Experience working in an interdisciplinary college mental health treatment setting;
2)Experience in brief intervention and mental health crisis assessment;
3)Experience providing group therapy;
4)Experience in consultation and collaboration with campus or community partners and provision of campus-based services/outreach including experience developing campus-wide programs;
5)Experience with electronic health record systems;
6)Demonstrated attentiveness to intersectionality & health disparities;
7)Supervision of trainees;
8)Experience participating in multidisciplinary teams including medical providers and/or academic faculty/staff.
License/Certification:
Required
LPC – Licensed Professional Counselor
For Counselor: License to practice independently in the State of Wisconsin licensed or must be licensed within six months. License to practice independently.
