Updike Distribution Logistics Hiring for Warehouse Supervisor at Salt Lake City, UT Full Time

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:

Updike Distribution Logistics is seeking a Warehouse Manager to oversee our pallet operation. This role will run a team of pallet repairers, sorters, and forklift operators and who will also work very closely with our customer. This position is a “roll up your sleeves and get it done” position and we need someone who is willing to set the example for an exemplary work ethic. You must be fantastic with people.

Essential Job Functions:

• What you will be doing daily:
• Develop and implement a program to train and motivate personnel for increased effectiveness
• Lead and assist in daily warehouse and shipping areas (hands-on position!)
• Inspect and determine level of repair pallet needs following established repaid criteria
• Assist in the management of the periodic maintenance of all equipment, fixtures, and fabric on warehouse premises
• Make recommendation to the Regional Director on programs to improve warehouse operations
• Develop and maintain a productive work team through training and professional development
• Ensure proper planning of space utilization and suggest methods for improving layout
• Assist the checking of outgoing and incoming freight for proper counts and codes
• Establish, maintain, and promote high standards of customer service (big one!)
• Supervise the relocation and consolidation of product as required
• Assist in conducting physical inventories as required
• Ensure the proper stock rotation
• Liaise with drivers, customers, and warehouse personnel
• Maintain effective internal control over product flow and inventory
• Manage and maintain adherence to both customer and company standard operating procedures to allow the accurate, timely, and safe handling of goods.
• Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations
• Recommend measures to improve the quality of service and increase efficiency of department
• Participate in the selection process of new personnel, train incoming personnel
• Other duties as assigned by senior leadership
• Conduct staff meetings and monthly trainings
• Uphold safety practices within the operation

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required for extended periods of time to stand, walk, sit and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls and office equipment. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch (by bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine), maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling. The employee may be required to pull (using upper extremities to exert force in order to haul or tug objects in a sustained motion) or remove inventory from shelves, lift up to 50 pounds (group lift up to 70 pounds), raise objects from a lower to higher position or move objects horizontally from position-to-position, climb ladders and use forklift machines. Must wear goggles, gloves and vest when required.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work in a non heated/air-conditioned warehouse throughout all seasons and is subjected to outside environmental conditions. Workers are required to adhere to strict safety regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 per year
