Job Summary
The Instructional Design Specialist supports the creation and delivery of enterprise-wide leadership development training for a variety of formats such as eLearning, classroom, webinars, job-aids, gamification and videos. The incumbent works closely with instructional designers, training and development managers, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to determine training needs, arrives at appropriate interventions to satisfy those needs, and offers solutions that impact the organization. This role will also consult and collaborate with a variety of internal customers (from other UPS business units), to provide instructional design expertise and support the direction and management of their projects.
Responsibilities
Creates training materials according to desired learning objectives and project requirements
Identifies flow and structure of content after discussion with SMEs and analyzing source materials
Collects and/or curates content for development of training materials (e.g., text, graphics, animations, audio, test question details, etc.) to ensure alignment with training and learning development strategies
Works with graphic designer to finalize templates, layouts and design strategies for training
Builds test questions, and assembles tests to determine entry-level/baseline knowledge and learning transfer (according to project requirements)
Validates structure/organization of training content for best format to provide meaningful learning and positive user-experience
Engages in review and feedback cycles to edit training materials and arrive at final deliverables
Queries standardized reports and/or creates custom reports to inform stakeholders of project implementation status (e.g. assigned, in-progress, and complete)
Works on Learning Management System (LMS) to upload and test training materials before roll out
Supports project planning on projects of medium complexity, lasting approximately six months

Demonstrates a general understanding of ways to identify and measure the current needs of the customer and uses to help define the project’s requirements
Applies knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design to the creation of instructional materials and evaluates existing analysis to identify learning gaps and provide recommendations
Demonstrates ability to identify implementation gaps and provide suggestions for improvement and appropriate measurement to assess learning
Recognizes importance of understanding global and cultural diversity and interested in learning about cultural differences that affect UPS’s business
Demonstrates understanding of implementation objectives, project plan, one’s role within a project and identifies areas of risk and properly communicates them to the project manager
Describes the importance of quality design and development procedures and outlines design/development
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Demonstrates effective communication (written & verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to details
Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Organizational Leadership & Learning or a similar field
Experience using Storyline 3 or 360
Experience designing a variety of learning programs, including eLearning, instructor-led, and webinars
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and ensure milestones are accomplished
Experience creating, editing, and evaluating video, writing, instructional materials, etc.
Willing to relocate if, not located in the same geographic location as the job
