MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide mission-focused leadership as part of URI’s senior management team to ensure the long-term impact, sustainability, future growth, and effectiveness of the organization including implementing enterprise risk management.
Provide leadership in the development of strong intra- and inter-agency collaborations to improve the systemic response to homeless families
Develop and achieve annual program level goals in support of the mission and value of the agency wide- strategic plan.
Ensure the provision of quality of services within our programs for homeless families while appropriately engaging in recommendations, to include those offered by staff and clients, to evolve programs to meet the changing needs of our families.
Work collaboratively with all VPs and other Senior Team Members to integrate all key functions and services into the work of programs for homeless families.
Collaborate with VP of Quality Improvement, Evaluation and Training (QIET) to develop and document tools and guidelines for provision and integration of services: new approaches to services based on trauma informed care and identified best practices.
Develop and communicate annual department operating goals to ensure consistency with long term strategic goals.
Maintain constructive collaborative relationships with other divisions and partner agencies in the public and private sector as well as funding sources and service providers.
Ensures compliance with all relevant federal, state and local regulations as well as agency and program policies, and compliance in meeting performance measures based on organizational targets.
Ensures safety across URI’s programs for homeless families and participate in development and monitoring of adherence to safety protocols.
Collaborate with SVP of Asset Management to ensure that program and operational staff are working together to ensure that homeless family facilities are maintained at the highest level of quality.
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
Provide appropriate supervision to the Regional Director, Programs for Homeless Families, the Administrative Coordinator and as needed to the onsite Program Directors in the absence of the Regional Director.
Cultivate leadership development for staff including facilitating growth opportunities. This includes but is not limited to promoting ongoing participation in URI’s training program by ensuring training targets are incorporated into individual staffing goals and objectives.
Evaluate and make appropriate recommendations for new residential and non-residential homeless families programming.
Assist with the development and implementation of operational plans, policies and procedures in support of the mission and value of the agency wide- strategic plan.
Participate and assist with staff events as a senior management representative in partnership with People and Culture and with the goal to improve employee workplace satisfaction and improve retention (e.g. annual staff day) as well as other events promoting the agency’s mission.
Facilitate the development of the annual operating budget for the programs for homeless families for review and discussion with the Chief Program Officer (CPO).
Oversee the management of the operating budget for the programs, with the ability to communicate budgetary limitations to program directors to ensure clear understanding of established guidelines and the impact on their individual programs.
Collaborate with the Finance and Accounting office to facilitate compliance with contract guidelines, submit requests for modifications for approval in advance as needed and to increase overall contract performance.
Maintain communications with Finance department and CPO to ensure that the organization is aware of any anticipated or unanticipated operational changes that may impact the program’s ability to maintain compliance and/or projected levels of services, and those which may impact cash flow.
Develop and foster relationships with key government and non-government organizations.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Masters’ degree in social work, human services, or related field required.
PhD in related field preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Passion for URI’s mission, vision and core values with the ability to communicate this passion to others.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience of progressively senior management and/or executive experience.
Experience leading a large, diverse staff including people that have experienced homelessness, poverty and/or trauma.
Familiarity with New York City’s DHS and OTDA regulations and compliance.
Strong project management skills and experience, especially in projects requiring significant resources and cross-functional involvement is a must.
Must have the ability to manage and organize multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment.
Exceptional interpersonal and flexible communications skills, and the ability to develop positive and productive relationships with a dispersed and diverse team.
Must be results-oriented and driven with skills in organization, planning, and attention to details.
Ability to motivate and lead others with respect; and the ability to interact with tact and sensitivity.
Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to build and sustain working relationships with employees, vendors, and colleagues, etc.
Strong leadership skills with experience building teams, developing and empowering staff, emphasizing timely delivery in order to meet critical deadlines.
Professional integrity, honesty and ethics; comfortable with being responsible and accountable.
Strong commitment to equity and social justice including a focus on self-awareness and engagement of continuous learning around issues of diversity equity and inclusion; high level of Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
Demonstrated experience working with and sensitivity to individuals from varying sociodemographic backgrounds including individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or HIV-affected, the elderly and individuals with substance use and/or mental health issues.
Excellent computer and technical skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Will be required to travel to multiple sites in the NYC area.
Will be frequently be required to sit and stand for long periods of time.
Will be required to read printed matter and computer screens.
