The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (three weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
The assigned processes applications for the full range of nonimmigrant visa (NIV) categories from applicants of various nationalities by applying specific regulations defined in the Foreign Affairs Manual (FAM), Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), and Standard Operation Procedures (SOP). Responsible for receiving, screening, updating and correcting applications for adjudication by a Consular Officer. Responsible for tracking and processing cases after officer adjudication. Maintains integrity of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and consular processes. Keeps current on and applies changes of visa laws and SOPs to daily workflow.
Experience: Four years of consular or similar experience with customer service, administrative, government or paraprofessional work that requires the application of regulatory material in decision making is required.
Job Knowledge: Possess knowledge of where and how to look up necessary information
Completion of secondary school is required.
Language: Fluent in Reading/Writing/Speaking in English is required. This may be tested.
Skills and Abilities: Good drafting skills is necessary. Ability to deal calmly, authoritatively, and politely with contacts at all levels by telephone, email, and in person.
