Duties include but are not limited to:
Analyze and independently resolve difficult issues and problems pertaining to the accuracy and timeliness of supply actions. Assists the Logistics Sections Chief (LSC) with planning and coordinating development of procedures and instructions to implement and manage an efficient supply management program to fill the immediate needs during training or actual response mission.
Coordinates with leadership, assists in the identification of equipment and supplies required to complete assigned missions and submits appropriate justifications. Coordinates with the NDMS response team’s logistics management activities to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and other guidance, takes necessary action to report deficiencies in operations, and provide for new or revised directions and practices. Provides continuing information, recommendations and advice to Logistics Section Chief and staff on logistical operations and actions to ensure program effectiveness.
Identifies deficiencies and implements corrective actions as needed within the Logistics
Section to support the Logistics Section Chief by ordering, shipping, receiving, and signing for deliveries. Maintains the level of supplies and equipment necessary to accomplish the NDMS response team’s mission at all times during the deployment. Performs routine maintenance and safety checks on a variety of equipment.
Under the direction of the Logistics Section Chief, works with contractors’ activities; disposal requirements; and other areas to assure appropriate application of HHS/ASPR/ORM/NDMS wide policies and procedures to enhance ASPR’s readiness and response capability. Identifies deficiencies and implements corrective actions as needed within the Logistics Section.
Supports logistical management during non-response status to include management and inventory of NDMS’ accountable equipment, control of expendable supplies, NDMS uniforms and other items, and appropriate disposal requirements, as required. This position is an intermittent work schedule: A schedule that requires an employee to work an irregular number of hours or days for which there is no prearranged scheduled tour of duty. You also may not hold dual Federal Employment.
During deployments, the work is primarily related to readiness for and deployment for response during the aftermath of a disaster or public health emergency, where work may be field based, in a tent environment that is remote and austere, caring for sick, injured, dying, or deceased persons. This work requires above average health, physical, and mental conditioning with routine long periods of repetitive walking, bending, lifting, and carrying, such as carrying NDMS equipment or heavy patients on litters. Incumbent must be capable of working in a high-stress, high security, remote, austere, and uncharacterized environment, void of infrastructure and vital services, requiring specific physical demands, such as the ability to lift 50 pounds, and work characteristics that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. For these reasons, employees are required to complete a physical and health screening process, meet and maintain certain physical standards, as well as mental, behavioral, and cognitive competencies. Work may be performed in an office setting or indoor and outdoor field sites, sometimes in adverse weather. During emergency situations, the work environment may be situated in austere conditions and environment in terms of destroyed infrastructure (e.g., food and water, housing, electricity, communications), the presence of endemic diseases, and limited health and sanitation facilities requiring special safety precautions.
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service performing two (2) of the following duties or work assignments:
1) Preparing, storing, and distributing equipment as needed for patient care.
(2) Oversees proper sterilization of medical supplies and assembly of equipment.
(3) Analyzes and independently resolve difficult issues/problems pertaining to the accuracy and timeliness of supply actions.
Experience Refers to:
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and/or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours worked per week.

If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
This position does not have an education qualification requirement.
