Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, responsible for assisting in the maintenance and operation of a technical research laboratory. Performs routine and non-technical laboratory tasks.
Job Duties:
- Assists in preparing culture media according to formula; prepares standard chemical solutions.
- Washes and sterilizes laboratory glassware, following standardized procedures; cleans, oils, paints and checks equipment, and assists in maintaining cleanliness.
- Receives and stores new equipment and supplies.
- Issues supplies and equipment to students, and checks returned equipment for condition.
- Maintains laboratory area supplied with basic materials or solutions used.
- Assists in the inventory of supplies and equipment as needed.
- Completes minor repairs or adjustments on equipment or instruments as needed.
- May perform messenger duties and runs errands as needed.
- Provides or assists in animal care and maintenance.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
