Valid has an outstanding opportunity for a Maintenance and Facilities Manager in our Bolingbrook facility. This Individual is responsible for managing the design, planning, construction and maintenance of machines, buildings and facilities. The position plans, budgets and schedules facility modifications, including estimates on facility-related equipment, labor, materials and other related costs. Manages daily operations of the machine maintenance and custodial department to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives and in partnership with the Manufacturing team. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the planning, coordination and administration of all Valid USA Plant Maintenance operations. Responsible for the development of programs relative to design, development and construction of equipment, tooling, and plant facilities, maintenance, repair and replacement of machinery, processes and standards and interchange of plant maintenance information within the Region.
What will you do?

• Plan, oversee and lead the maintenance of the physical structure, physical services, machinery, equipment and grounds.
• Partner with production departments to accommodate predictive maintenance activities, minimize downtime and scrap, and provide feedback regarding the status and availability of product equipment to Production Supervisors.
• Confer with management, engineering and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
• Implement spare parts inventory monitoring and replenishment system. Identify the part needs to reduce downtime and keep costs under control.
• Develop, implement and maintain a facility management and maintenance program including preventative maintenance and life-cycle requirements.
• Develop and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimizing operating costs and repair expenses
• Inspect and identify building, sites and equipment for needed repair / maintenance or replacement. Launch work order process to support needs.
• Requisition tools, equipment and supplies required for operations.
• Human Resources management in partnership with Human Resources:
  • Lead a team of Maintenance Supervisors, Technicians, Facility Technicians and Facility custodial staff.
  • Plan and monitor appropriate staffing levels of maintenance and facilities staff.
  • Participate in recruitment, selection and placement of approved / budgeted staff.
  • Plan, evaluate and deliver training to maintenance and facilities staff for superior work performance.
  • Partner in the development of staff for advancement opportunities.
  • Provide oversight and direction to direct reports utilizing Situational Leadership skills and techniques.
  • Establish work schedules and manage overtime spend.
• Partner with Environmental Health and Safety initiatives to ensure compliance with standard practices, and policies for pollution control, installation, modification, quality control, testing, operating procedure, inspection and maintenance of equipment according to Engineering Principles and Safety Regulations. Conduct and document regular facilities inspections
• Plan and manage facility central services such as waste disposal and parking.
• Participate in quarterly/monthly CART meetings and promote/participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage contractor and vendor relationships. Coordinate and monitor activities of contract suppliers. Manage and review service contracts to ensure facility management needs are being met. Ensure delivery schedules, quantity and quality criteria are met.
• Check completed work by contractors and vendors.
• Oversee and coordinate maintenance/repair work assignments performed by technicians, vendors and contractors performing building maintenance, landscaping, and janitorial work.
• Supervise maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment. Oversee facility refurbishment and renovations. Coordinates intra-office moves.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests. Troubleshoot issues to determine cause and solution.
• Maintain maintenance records and prepare reports.
• Assist with construction project management.
• Availability to work different shifts to perform preventive maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline; i.e. manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering is preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a process manufacturing environment, preferably with extrusion or compressions environments with hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
• Experience with hydraulics, compressors, mechanics and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Facility management experience in an industrial environment.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and excellent platform skills.
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds, climb stairs and ladders and work in tight spaces in and around machinery.
• Must possess a high standard of personal integrity.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and criminal background check prior to employment.
