Job Summary:

Provides support for all of the Outpatient Clinic Managers, Clinic PSRs, and Director of A/R. Initiates strong relationships between billing and Clinic front office. Will serve as a liaison between the clinics and will be responsible for ensuring accurate data is maintained/entered. Will be responsible for the tracking system of liens, collections, refunds, payments, etc. Financial reports provided to Director of A/R. Audits patient accounts and resolves any billing issues, which may include sending accounts to collections or filing liens. Performs data management and reports compilations. Routine travel up to 10% to provide coverage in the outpatient clinics.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Serves as a support person for EMR system.
• Serve as a liaison between the corporate office and the outpatient clinics.
• By appropriate means, collect outstanding balances owed from insurance companies, Medicare, patients, guarantors.
• Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
• Interact with outside vendors for billing software, collection company, collection aides, and banks.
• Maintains and organizes all record keeping for the division.
• Routes mail internally to the appropriate department for all outpatient clinics.
• Other job duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Gathers and analyzes financial data. Works with 3rd Party Billing Company to resolve billing issues. Solicits quality and process improvement suggestions.
• Runs/performs reports, data collection, data entry, data research and analysis as needed
• Communicates directly with Payers to follow-up on outstanding claims to resolve payment variances
• Updates and maintains accurate information on each account with action plan for next steps to resolve
• Reviews and suggests write offs for bad debt, turning patient accounts to third party collection agencies, and/or filing liens.
• Collects payments for copays and deductibles & suggests financial arrangements for patients
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits and records the information in the medical record; completes referrals
• Collaborates with other departments to obtain accurate charges, coding or other information needed for resolution of accounts. Handles front line concerns, regarding patient accounts, from all sources.
• Assists Clinics and/or Therapists patients who call/email the Corporate Office during business hours.
• Understands and maintains compliance with HIPAA guidelines when handling patient information.
• Serves a mentor new Clinic PSRs on operational concerns.

Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of insurance, billing and collections or related business environment
• 1 year clerical experience preferred
• Previous experience in one of the following: billing, insurance resolution follow-up, cash posting, or customer service preferred
• Previous experience using Microsoft Office programs, advanced Excel experience required.
