Human Resource Assistant Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The HR Assistant will report to the Director of HR and support all HR functions. This position will be based out of our Kingstree location. Job requirements and responsibilities include:

Recruiting

• Recruit, interview and recommend employees to fill vacant positions
• Post job ads, organize resumes and job applications, schedule job interviews and work with outside staffing agencies to find qualified employees

Compensation and Benefits

• Assist with payroll processing and answering payroll questions
• Conduct open enrollment benefit meetings for all active employees

Employee Relations

• Assist with new hire orientation, explaining policies and procedures and reviewing employee handbook with employees
• Uphold and enforce company policies and procedures and respond to questions
• Confer with management regarding appropriate resolution of employee matters
• Administer performance review process -ensuring effectiveness and equity

HR File Compliance

• Maintain current HR files and databases
• Perform file audits to ensure that all required employee documentation is properly collected and maintained

Safety

• Promote safety and health awareness company-wide including participating in company safety and health committees
• Monitor safety and health regulations and provide support to ensure compliance
• Assist with preparing programs and policies and identify when training is needed
• Work with managers to investigate injuries/accidents and determine preventative measure to correct unsafe acts

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Human Resources, recruiting or payroll experience preferred
• Must be adept at identifying issues and suggesting solutions to problem
• Must possess strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Strong computer skills including experience compiling reports and spreadsheets
• Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to utilize time efficiently
• Must be self-motivated, dependable, and able to multitask
