Senior Software Engineer

Due to major growth we are expanding our Engineering team in Sydney and currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the team.

You’ll work on VGW’s payments systems. This includes assisting with and taking general payments across VGW’s products and working closely with our Payments, Trust and Safety team to combat fraud associated with payments

In terms of our tech stack, we’re hosted on AWS (mostly EKS) containerised in Docker. In the containers, we run Node using TypeScript which also bleeds over to our client side where it’s mostly React. Our databases are PostgreSQL

What you will bring to the role:

• Robust coding practices including writing clean well structured code, automated tests, and managing source control.
• Strive to improve the code base. Deep understanding of why design and architectural decisions are made.
• Ensuring product features are being delivered effectively as measured by lead time, deployment frequency, change failure percentage, mean time to resolution and number of bugs in production.
• Experience implementing and using event-driven architectures
• Cloud development (we are hosted on AWS)
• Containerisation (Docker and/or Kubernetes would be great)
• Strong fundamental knowledge of OO and Functional programming paradigms
• Lead meetings, clearly communicate technical approach, status, assess and mitigate risk
• A collaborative approach to software engineering
• Empathy and the willingness to coach and mentor team members
