The V&A East Project Director is responsible for delivering the project brief to the budget and programme. She leads and manages the in-house team detailed below and external project specialists, to ensure both sites, are fully integrated, delivered effectively and to the highest standard.
Alongside the Project Director, the V&A East Project Team consists of a Deputy Project Director, Senior Client Project Manager, three Client Project Managers and three Project Coordinators, one of whom will also support team administration. This team will be responsible for the briefing, procurement, design and delivery of the V&A East Museum and the V&A East Storehouse. Each member of the team will undertake cross museum consultation to deliver a building that meets the V&A’s requirements, leading working groups and taking part in steering group and committee meetings.
The Curatorial team is responsible for developing the curatorial vision, the narratives of the permanent collection displays and developing a temporary exhibition programme. Working closely alongside, the V&A East Deputy Director is responsible for developing an operational plan encompassing financial forecasting, staffing requirements and methods of delivery inspired by elsewhere in the sector and beyond.
The Project Coordinator role supports the V&A East project team in managing the Museum operations necessary for the delivery of V&A East. The post holder will coordinate, support and organise stakeholders internally and externally to ensure that client instruction, logistics, change control, budget control, V&A policy, handover and evaluation are all properly managed and implemented.
The Project Coordinator will work in close partnership with all other members of the V&A East Project Team and will report into the Deputy Project Director or Client Project Manager. They will have day to day responsibility for liaising with all V&A project stakeholders as well as design teams, contractors and consultants.
The Project Team work in a collaborative, agile, matrix style, and specific workstreams will be allocated to members of the team to deliver based on the needs of the project. The Project Coordinator will be flexible, adaptable and have the capability to support and coordinate multiple workstreams simultaneously, covering different areas of expertise including those they are less familiar with.
