You will join our Visa Consulting and Analytics team as Full Stack Engineer on a 24-month contract basis, in an exciting opportunity that will allow you to grow your knowledge and skills in the Payments and Banking domain

What a Lead Full Stack Engineer does at Visa:

Be part of a supportive and dynamic team, delivering innovative products at the forefront of digital banking in Australia. Apply your skills in leading software engineering technologies for our client to create new features and improvements throughout our technology stack, from the clients UI to service layer, integrating with our back-end systems. As a Lead Full Stack Engineer – in one of our Scrum teams, you will develop and automate the testing of robust, adaptable code that is always production-ready. Through collaboration with other developers your work will improve the digital banking experience for our customers and our staff. In this role you will also:

• Work along the full lifecycle of software engineering from idea to working production
• Design reusable services following Service Oriented Design principles
• Engineer solutions which are highly secure and performant at scale
• Write code that is easy to read, highly maintainable, and written with automated testing in mind
• A mind for quality leveraging the best in TDD / BDD practices to delivery working software, every time
• Proactive in the development of your own capability across industry trends, technologies, methodologies and behaviours
• Coach other engineers and team members to increase their capability and in turn the capability of the scrum teams and organisation
• Maintain a focus on personal development of soft skills including refining ability to operate in ambiguity and problem-solving skills

Due to the nature of this role and project, it is offered initially as a 24-month permanent contract with the intention to extend. Preferably with the client because they are ecstatic with your work. Alternatively you could use this project as a springboard and be redeployed to other Visa Managed Services projects or even into Visa’s world class technology team.

This role will support one of our most strategically important issuing clients in Australia and will be responsible for delivering significant improvements to their digital consumer banking and payments experience. We need a leader to establish a strong team, set the vision for how we will deliver value to our client and develop the best practice template for how we expand this Managed Service offering in Australia, New Zealand and across Asia Pacific.

What you will need to be successful:

• An expert at managing multiple projects and solving complex problems
• Tertiary qualified in Computer Science or similar
• 10+ years in development/software engineering
• Technical leadership in delivery of sizable software applications / projects
• Extensive experience in core JAVA, Spring
• Deep understanding of tools across full software delivery lifecycle, e.g. test, mocking, source control (Git), CI, work tracking, defect management, etc
• Proficient in full stack development (e.g. database, services and user interface) or mastery in one layer of the stack with sound understanding of other layers
• Experience with micro services and also preferably with SpringBoot
• Experienced in building RESTful and SOAP Webservices and working with Agile
• Ability to operate in ambiguity
• Demonstrated ability to self-learn. Self-motivated and ability to prioritise to achieve exceptional outcomes
• Sound written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to network and stay abreast of changes within the industry and profession
