Ko tō tūranga – Your role

Working with a highly capable team, the IP Network Engineer will form a key role in both design and operation of our existing network, along with new technologies as they are introduced. You will operate with independence where you want it, and all the support you need to develop world-class solutions.

Ko tō mahi – What you’ll do

Responsible for the design, implementation and 24×7 support of the IP DevOps domain, you will have the following responsibilities.

• Delivery of world class IP network designs that consider all end to end impacts
• Contribute to the development of domain roadmaps, network plans and capital budgets
• Implementation of network change ensuring the network integrity is maintained
• Development of automated tests to ensure the quality of changes before live implementation
• Exploration and development within Vodafone’s new network plans around zero touch provisioning
• Play a key role in the improvement of processes, procedures and automation that improves operational performance
• Participate in on-call rosters as required

Na tōu rourou – What will you bring?

The successful candidate for this role will have a rudimentary understanding of the IP Domain, as well as general capability in the Network space. You will show:

• Capability in the IP DevOps domains:
  • Vendor’s – including Juniper, Cisco, Ciena
  • Layer 2 Protocols – VPLS, MPLS, STP, Carrier Ethernet, Vxlan etc
  • Layer 3 Protocols – BGP, RIP, OSPF, ISIS, IPv6 etc
• Basic knowledge of scripting and software/web development
• 1+ Years proven, commercial experience in the telecommunications or ICT industry
• Ability to engage and work in a high performing team, make decisions under pressure and communicate effectively
• Understanding of ITIL methodologies
