This position is fulltime and permanent, the successful candidate will be based from our Vulcan site in Palmerston North.

We are looking for a skilled Machine/Saw Operator to set up, programme and operate our Amada Saw. This role is Monday – Friday 7am – 3.30 pm with opportunities for overtime. The role is approximately 80% saw operation and 20% in the stores area assisting the team. No two days are the same and the saw cutting requirements fluctuate daily. You will be on our cut to length line – cutting various steel products to specific lengths for our clients.

We require you to be reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards. On-the-job training is a good way to discover how to do the job better, so you should have willingness to learn and improve. Being a team player is essential as this role requires close collaboration with co-workers. The goal will be to ensure that production procedures are carried out smoothly to maximize efficiency and profits.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a machine/saw operator
• Forklift licence
• Good level of physical fitness – this is a physical job
• Good attention to detail
• Ability to work overtime if required
• Team player
• Good sense of humour
• Minimum full class 1 drivers licence
• Intermediate level of skill with technology
• Reliable
• Excellent understanding and adherence to health & safety procedures
