Wahiawa General Hospital Hiring for Dietitian’s Helper Job at Wahiawa, HI Full Time

Primary Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Morrison Contract Manager, performs a variety of routine clerical duties and various specific duties related to patient food and beverage service including, but not limited to, taking messages, delivering patient trays, picking up patient menus, helping patient fill out menus, recording patient likes and dislikes, updating the patient kardex, and checking patients meal trays for accuracy.

Essential Duties

• Prepare patient meal tickets.
• Collect diet orders from printer; enter appropriate changes in Geri-menu Diet computer system.
• Prepare/enter nourishment list via computer and print lists.
• Prepare daily record of meals served and complete daily food tally sheet.
• Prepare food production worksheets.
• Measure specified foods and places on trays in accordance with diet order.

Other Duties

• Comply with hospital and departmental work rules and policies.
• Copy/recopy other items such as employee schedules, menus, meal patterns, etc.
• Prepare late patient trays; check deliveries of food supply items; deliver items to nursing units; lock up freezer.
• See patients as needed to obtain food preferences and respond to requests, complaints or questions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

• Ability to speak, read, write and understand the English language sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions.
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to consider age and special needs of the patient served.
• Employment is subject to being completely vaccinated or having a WGH approved COVID-19 Vaccine Exemption prior to providing services for the facility.

Enhanced Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and metric system.
• Prior clerical experience in a medical setting.
• Personal computer experience.
• Courses in nutrition, diet therapy or related topics.

Working Conditions

• Air conditioned, well lighted environment. May work outdoors.
• Exposure to toxic/noxious odors, physical hazards.
• Exposed to noise, hazards, and odors of kitchen operation.
• Subject to frequent interruptions.
• May work beyond normal working hours.
• Interacts with other departments and personnel and outside contacts.

Equipment Use

• Use of various kitchen and office equipment.

Mental and Physical Demands

• Ability to lift/carry up to 25-30 pounds without assistance.
• Position involves reaching, stooping, bending, sitting, standing and walking.
