The Council have an exciting new opportunity for a Building Consent Officer. The role of Building Consent Officer is part of the Building Unit Commercial Processing Team, based in Rangiora. This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week worked Monday to Friday, usually between 8am – 4.30pm.
In this position, you will process building consent applications across both residential and commercial areas in a manner which is consistent with the BCA quality assurance system and in accordance with the Building Act 2004, The Building Code, and Building Regulations 1992. There will be a strong emphasis on working with colleagues and customers to find solutions.
As part of the Building Unit, and working with internal and external stakeholders, the Building Consent Officer has a major role in relation to Health & Safety of the built environment.
Ideally, you will be a BCO with 3-5 years’ experience with outstanding interpersonal skills and have the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people. You will be confident working across residential and commercial projects in order to come up with “win-win” solutions. Having a Regulation 18 qualification is essential.
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, believes in continuous improvement and welcomes new learning and experiences by sharing, contributing and cooperating with the others. You must have thorough understanding of the Building Act 2004, New Zealand Building Code, New Zealand and Australian Building Standards, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of building products and building systems.
We are looking for someone with well-developed written & oral communication, strong attention to detail, sound computer skills & the ability to effectively prioritise workloads. You will be a team player with a ‘Can do’ attitude and have a willingness to go the extra mile for our customers.
