Waipa Racing Club Looking for Apprentice Groundsperson at Te Awamutu, Waikato Full Time

The Waipa Racing Club is seeking a grounds person for a full-time position at Te Awamutu racecourse; with the ability to travel to Te Rapa racecourse on occasions to assist with preparation and repair of tracks and facilities.

The position will report to the Racecourse Manager and will have the ability to work in a team environment. Experience in operating tractors, mowers and small plant and equipment would be an advantage. Being able to work outside in a wonderful environment is part of the job that is appreciated by most. 

We are very keen for the successful applicant to complete level 3 or an apprenticeship to give the ability to progress their opportunities in the sports turf industry. You will also need to have your own driver’s licence and transport.

Duties will include:

• Preparing tracks for training and racing.
• Mowing of all grounds.
• Cleaning of stalls. 
• Attending trackwork.
• Moving running rails.
• General grounds duties.
• Setting facilities for functions and events.
