It’s not often you’ll find a role with this level of complexity and scale; not to mention the ability to realise such tangible outcomes for New Zealanders.

As our Principal Advisor, you will play an integral role in the development of the National Land Transport Programme (NLTP) which sets out how government intends to invest in the development and maintenance of the transport system. The NLTP is a complex, national scale programme of work, with an estimated spend of around $24 billion over 3 years.

You’ll be responsible for leading the identification, scoping and delivery of improvements that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the NLTP development process. Your focus will be to ensure we deliver best practice land transport planning and investment in New Zealand.

You’ll partner with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (e.g. local government agencies) to ensure that we bring together and deliver the workstreams of teams at the right time and place. An ongoing element of this role will also be to coach and influence your stakeholders on the value add of programme management for the organisation.

To be successful in this role you will bring

• Experience prioritising, planning and managing projects and complex work programmes in a strategic or policy environment.
• Experience traversing ambiguity and bringing a structured approach to scoping and completing work.
• Experience identifying and implementing effective change management practices
• Highly developed influencing, networking and interpersonal skills; and experience working with Senior Leaders to build momentum, facilitate progress and overcome barriers.
• Demonstrated competence in writing reports and briefings on complex issues.
• Experience coaching and mentoring others.
• A proactive and flexible working style and the ability to adapt to change
• The ability to effectively navigate through complex political situations
