About Us and the Role
We are recruiting to a number of roles in our School Admissions Team, to strengthen the Admissions Service and ensure we deliver on our purpose to help parents find and provide them with a suitable school place. Warwickshire County Council receives approximately 20,000 applications for school places every year. There are occasions when parents are not offered the school place they hoped for, so we operate a statutory appeal process to provide parents with the opportunity to present their case for reconsideration.
We have a vacancy for a Specialist Admissions Officer, who will focus on school appeals, working closely with Admissions Officers, our Legal Services and our local school to provide information and advice on a case-by-case basis, where parents appeal against the school offer they receive. This is an emotional time for families, so to be successful in the role you will be a good listener and have the ability to empathise with the families you will be working alongside as you prepare the information that will be presented at Appeal Panel. To ensure the Local Authority’s case is robust, you will be adept at collating information from various sources, checking it for accuracy with a keen attention to detail, and presenting it in a manner that is factual yet easy to interpret. You will have the confidence to present facts to an Appeals Panel and respond to any questions you might receive. In return you will be supported by a team working together with a shared purpose, with the benefit of hybrid working, flexibility and comprehensive training.
