Waste Connections Hiring For Accounts Receivable Representative – 22 Month Contract at Hamilton, ON Full Time

Waste Connections of Canada, the leader in non-hazardous solid waste management in North America is looking for an Accounts Receivable Representative to join our team in Hamilton ON. We are looking for a safety inclined, energetic, autonomous and proactive team player capable of making a difference in his/her team and community.

Position Summary:

The Accounts Receivable Collections Representative will have responsibilities for the collection of accounts within their assigned district, downloading details of customer payments and contacts, at times processing those payments in Waste Connections of Canada’s accounts receivable systems, and following up with customers on billing related issues and slow payment history

Main Accountabilities

• Contacts customers with delinquent accounts by phone, fax, email and regular mail to collect customer balances.
• Reconcile customer account discrepancies, over/under payments, credits, etc.
• Record adjustment entries on customer accounts
• Daily entry of all customer payments
• Contact credit references, and/or obtain and review customer credit history through Equifax
• Prepare monthly AR reports for collections meeting
• Liaise with sales representatives to review status of customer accounts, i.e. outstanding adjustments, suspensions, legal/liquidated damages, closed accounts, etc.
• Performs other accounting duties as requested by the Controller

If you have the following skills and experience, we would like to hear from you:

• Post-Secondary School degree/diploma is preferred with courses in accounting
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people
• Two years experience in the collection of both commercial and consumer accounts is preferred
• Great Interpersonal and Time Management skills
