Description
Waterford.org is seeking a tenacious and innovative Public Relations Manager to join our Marketing & Communications (MarCom) team. This role is pivotal in amplifying our mission and obtaining media coverage at both local and national levels. As a key player in our organization, you will be responsible for generating compelling story ideas, pitching to media outlets, and ensuring our initiatives gain the visibility they deserve.
Responsibilities • Develop and implement comprehensive PR strategies to promote Waterford.org’s programs and initiatives• Identify and create engaging story angles that resonate with various media outlets• Pitch stories to local and national media, securing coverage that aligns with our mission and goals• Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, and influencers• Write and distribute press releases, media alerts, and other PR materials• Monitor media coverage and prepare regular reports on PR performance and impact• Conduct on-camera interviews with partners and write scripts for video content• Collaborate with internal teams to align PR efforts with overall marketing and communication strategies• Manage crisis communication as needed, ensuring our messaging is consistent and supportive of our mission• Continuously champion, promote, and advance diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence at Waterford.org• Collaborate on and contribute to organizational DEI efforts and goals
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field• 4+ years of experience in public relations, preferably within the nonprofit or education sector• Proficient in using PR and media monitoring tools• Proven track record of securing media placements at local and national levels• Experience conducting on-camera interviews and writing scripts for video content• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills• Strong communicator with a high level of emotional intelligence and the ability to talk through issues and develop collaborative solutions• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working at Waterford.org Waterford.org team members are located across the United States and primarily work from home. We anticipate paying between $85,000 – 100,000 for this full time position based on the education, experience and skill level of the individual we hire. In addition to your base salary Waterford has an annual bonus program. We offer a phenomenal benefits package that includes fully paid primary premiums for health insurance, dental insurance, basic life insurance, and disability insurance. New hires receive a one-time HSA contribution. Retirement contributions are matched up to 5% by the organization. Plus, a generous vacation, sick, and holiday offering.
