Essential Functions (Job Duties)
The Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor position is a non-tenure, subsidy conditioned, contractual, 12-month, position for at least 1 year; subsequent years are possible, contingent upon acceptable performance. The Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor (rank dependent on years of experience and demonstrated success in training, supervision, and teaching), will:
Assist the Clinic Director and Associate Director in day-to-day operations of the Clinic including planning for, oversight of, and reporting on aspects of clinical operations (intakes, assessments, therapy, consultation, and external practica sites) and community partnerships.
Provide supervision (under faculty supervision if not yet licensed) to practicum students who are conducting assessments, psychotherapy, and consultation.
Coordinate and supervise the Clinic’s Dialectical Behavior Therapy program.
Teach a clinical course such as a practicum in assessment, intervention, or supervision.
Contribute to Clinic-related research on procedures and outcomes related to client mental health, including grant writing and manuscript preparation.
Contribute to applications for federal, private, and community grants and contracts.
Conduct psychological assessments and psychotherapy for Clinic clients.
Participate in ongoing functions of the clinical psychology Ph.D. program, including admissions, annual reviews, doctoral qualifying exams, research seminars, journal clubs, guest lectures, and occasional thesis and dissertation committees.

Qualifications
A Ph.D. or Psy.D. and completed predoctoral internship from an APA-accredited clinical psychology program (required).
Skills in assessment (psycho-educational, neuropsychological, and/or personality).
Skills in pragmatic, empirically-supported treatments for individuals, families, and groups.
Interest in providing training and supervision in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Interest in supervising trainees, managing organizations, and collaborating with community partners.
Competence in rapid responding to serious clinical issues (e.g., suicidal or violent behavior).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience working with an ethnically, economically, developmentally, sexually, and religiously diverse population, including children, adolescents, persons with disability, the chronically ill, and military personnel.
Licensed or license-eligible in Michigan, or if not, willing to become licensed within 1 year, with supervision provided by Clinic faculty for work at the Clinic.
Background in community psychology methods and practice
