Established in 1983, our client is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to ensuring the wellbeing of Ireland’s horse population through the provision of high-quality laboratory services to diagnose, manage and prevent disease in horses. Our client is committed to delivering world-class service to their clientele of over 600 veterinary practices and their centre is ISO 17025 Accredited since 2004 and is recognised as such by INAB.

They are now looking for a Laboratory Analyst to join their Forensic Laboratory in Johnstown, Naas, Co Kildare for an initial 12 month fixed-term contract.

The Role

As a Laboratory Analyst, you will support our client’s testing activities within their laboratory environment.

Undertaking analysis of samples mainly using immunoassays (ELISA) and multi-analyte techniques, you will screen for a range of compounds in numerous matrices.

Directed by the Laboratory Head, you will assist with sample preparation, processing and testing and reporting of results. You will help to maintain our clients’ high standards and strong focus on customer requirements.

About You

To be considered as a Laboratory Analyst, you will need:

• Experience working in a regulated and/or accredited laboratory
• Experience of analytical screening techniques, especially ELISAs
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, good laboratory practices and chemical handling
• A customer-focused and flexible approach and the ability to work to deadlines
• The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills
• A degree in science (BSc) or allied subject with a strong emphasis in chemistry or analytical testing

A working knowledge of ISO 17025 would be beneficial to your application, as would experience of sample handling, preparation and clean up techniques.

Experience using chromatography, preferably HPLC or UPLC, and mass spectrometry would also be advantageous, as would knowledge and/or experience of method validation.

Experience in proficiency testing would also be favourable, as would good troubleshooting abilities.
