The Chief Operating Office (COO) is responsible for delivering a more consistent approach to business operations across Wells Fargo, strengthening the company’s risk and control infrastructure, and delivering effective and efficient enterprise services to employees and customers.
The COO group includes the head of Operations, who is jointly responsible for line of business operations with each of the five LOB CEOs. Operations functions include contact center operations, client servicing support, money movements within our businesses, lending operations, and other functions.
The COO group also includes a number of teams dedicated to strengthening Wells Fargo’s risk and control infrastructure. These include the Control Executive team; Regulatory and Policy Affairs; Enterprise Customer Excellence; Sales Practices Oversight and Management; and Strategic Execution and Operations.
The Chief Administrative Office, encompassing the Corporate Properties Group; Corporate Security; Enterprise Business Resiliency; Strategic Programs and Process Improvement; Enterprise Change Management; Supply Chain Management; and Data Management and Insights, delivers important services for our employees and customers.
A Senior Officer for the Chief Administrative Office (CAO) Control team is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring risk-based programs to identify, assess and mitigate operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events, while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency.
The role will execute the required program components through collaboration and credible challenge with CAO Control, COO Control, Independent Risk Management teams, and line of business SMEs. Adherence to the risk management framework and relevant policies is critical to ensure that Wells Fargo can deliver consistent, desired outcomes and meet regulatory expectations. The roles will require partnership with business leaders to understand complex issues, influence change and establish open communication.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Partner with CAO, COO and peer COO Control teams and LOB SMEs to assess and quantify risks, identify and assess controls and identify potential issues or risk reduction opportunities as part of risk program execution.
Implement and coordinate change management routines to meet enterprise policy requirements for ongoing monitoring and maintenance of risk program deliverables across programs including Enterprise Risk Identification Assessment (ERIA), RCSA and Issue Management.
Provide leadership and mentoring to other team members on the team.
Coordinate reporting to management on program status, themes, testing, issues and risk reduction opportunities.
Champion improvement and efficiency in the execution and integration of required deliverables across programs.
A Senior Officer in this position will compile information from various sources and communicate complex ideas to a sophisticated audience of experts. Healthy inquisitiveness, problem solving skills and thoroughness will bolster credibility and enhance success. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs including Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance, which includes effectively following, and adhering to and if applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite, and all risk and compliance program requirements.
