As the company’s second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo’s risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline’s execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework (https://portal.teamworks.wellsfargo.net/rc/CorporateRisk/Pages/riskmgmtfrmwk.aspx) and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk.
The ORE System team within Operational Risk Group is seeking a dynamic self-starter for a critical role as Operational Risk Officer. As the Operational Risk team implements initiatives to enhance our operational risk framework and operational risk policy, this position will act as a liaison between the Operational Risk Group, vested stakeholders (e.g. HMT, SHRP, RCSA, RFDS), Centerprise (3rd Party Vendor) and Enterprise Information Technology by planning, reviewing development and leading Front Line User Acceptance Testing (UAT). This position will also be tasked with executing End User Computing Tools (EUCT) execution activities as well as assist in JIRA story documentation to ensure efforts can be fully automated and controlled in future enhancements.
Role Responsibilities
Leads and influences partnerships with the Application Business Owner and the Technical Data teams by consulting and providing expertise and strategic direction in the control design to effectively mitigate risks, including design of effective means of measurement. Contributes to the development and enhancement of the business control environment through execution of the Operational Loss Events (ORE) program and automation efforts. Engages in the development and implementation of new controls, action plans, and root cause analysis. Executes business-as-usual end user computing tools and provides suggestions for automation. Supports the Application Business Owner with implementation of Control programs by providing consultative guidance regarding loss data acquisition, ingestion and on boarding Foundational Risk Components. Assesses and designs appropriate metrics to inform and monitor the health of the operational risk system. Supports a strong risk management culture through the implementation of key risk management programs into the standard operating framework of the business.
The candidate will work with user groups and data providers to resolve questions, assess business needs, and recommend changes and prepare specifications for system changes.
Provide technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet business requirements.
Leads User Acceptance Testing Script planning, development, and oversees large scale systems testing.
Acts as an internal consultant within technology and business groups by using quality tools and process definition/improvement to re-engineer technical processes for greater efficiencies.
Acts as an internal consultant by using their understanding of the business needs to suggest re-engineering of procedural or technical process improvements to obtain greater efficiency and ensure production resiliency.
May be assigned other data & support functions based on the demand and at the manager’s discretion.
Critically review complex scenarios to ensure alignment to the Operational Risk Events policy and procedures and ensure timely entry into the system of record.
Anticipates and pro-actively identifies and escalates emerging risks and proposes solutions to address problems and improve consistency across the team.
Provide guidance, oversight and training for Operational Risk Events procedures and documentation.
Regularly interacts, influences and collaborates with all levels of the organization including management and senior level stakeholders.
Build strong relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders within Operational Risk Foundational Programs (ORFP) Team, as necessary, in performance of daily activities.
Lead and assist in projects impacting the team.
Ability to identify inefficiencies, opportunities to streamline business processes, and implement change.
Lead in the facilitation, management and follow through of the facilitation of the intra and extra team forums.
Lead ADHOC research and other activities related to the Operational Loss Events Data/Life Cycle.
Provide recommendations and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for process improvements.
Escalate, significant trends and themes.
Required Qualifications

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills
Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment
A BS/BA degree or higher
Other Desired Qualifications
Experience with Oracle databases
3+ years of working experience within Microsoft Access or SQL
Experience gathering, analyzing and interpreting complex business/systems requirements
Experience with Data Management & Process mapping
Prior experience with documentations of controls or translations.
Very organized and attention to detail
Can effectively manage a deadline driven environment
Understanding of database principles to include but not limited to data structure, data integrity, scalability, hierarchies
Knowledge and understanding of Operational Risk concepts, process, tools, and environments
Strong process management and improvement experience
Have an understanding of all the lines of defense
Risk experience in the financial services industry
