Position Summary: Responsible for accurate, complete and concurrent abstraction of oncology patient data to be utilized for administration, clinical trials, research, state and national reporting, maintaining certifications, accreditations, and quality improvement within the Oncology Services. Position requires in depth computer skills and ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining security and confidentiality of patient information. Responsibilities includes determining case-finding eligibility, abstracting cancer identification, staging and all treatments utilizing ICD-10, ICD-9-CM, AJCC TNM staging Solid and Hematopoietic Multiple Primary Rules and Collaborative Stage coding systems, Site Specific Data Items (SSDI) standards of treatment based on site/histology combinations and stage of cancer (NCCN treatment guidelines) and all mandated follow-up activities. Responsible for reporting quality discrepancies in the EMR. Requires travel for education annually.
Minimum Qualifications:
– Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR Certification) with required CE’s maintained with annual renewal of certification In-depth knowledge of computers, software, multiple electronic medical records systems and electronic cancer registry data bases.
