Westland Milk Products Looking for Heavy Vehicle Mechanic at Hokitika, West Coast, New Zealand Full Time

The Role

Based at our Hokitika site and reporting to our Fleet Maintenance Manager we are looking for a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to step their career up a gear and join Westland’s Milk-Tanker Fleet Maintenance team. Working on a 4 on 3 off day shift-pattern (6.30am-5pm working days between Monday – Fri) during the milking season with the potential for some after-hour call outs, this is a hands-on role, working within a committed team of 6 mechanics, ensuring the smooth and successful servicing of the Westland Fleet of 28 milk tankers (23 Hokitika based and 5 in Rolleston) and 1 Hokitika based flat deck truck.

In Summary You Will Be Responsible For

• Providing quality vehicle maintenance to Westland’s company vehicles and adhering to the repair and maintenance programme, monitoring trends in vehicle performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Compliance with Westland’s Mechanics’ Instruction Manual and ensuring the fleet is maintained to meet all NZTA compliance and relevant legislation and regulations
• Developing and maintaining exceptional relationships with Westland’s Milk Tanker Drivers and associated staff
• A high level of documentation and record keeping
• Ensuring all work is carried out in a responsible and safe manner according to Company health and safety policies

The Successful Applicant Will Possess

• National Certificate in Automotive Heavy Engineering or similar
• Previous experience in the servicing and repair of a heavy transport fleet and associated equipment
• Experience dealing with modern fault diagnostic equipment
• Great communication skills and a good level of computer literacy
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
• A class 5 license and F endorsement – preferred but not essential
• An expert eye for detail
