Westland Milk Products Looking for Laboratory Technician – Sampling at Hokitika, West Coast, New Zealand Full Time

We currently require a Laboratory Technician to join our Hokitika based Laboratory team, working in our sampling lab. Working Monday – Friday (40hrs pw) we require a physically fit and motivated individual who prides themselves on their attention to detail and who works only to the highest standards.

Responsibilities will include collection of in line samples and final product samples, sub-sampling, sample dispatch, assistance with foreign matter and impurities testing and housekeeping of the Laboratory Sampling areas & helping out in other labs when required. You will also help ensure all 5S procedures, cleaning, and environmental systems are maintained to the highest level and may also be required to undertake environmental swabbing and micro-organism air monitoring within the manufacturing plants on the Hokitika site.

Whilst training can be given, ideally we are looking for individuals with:

• A high degree of motivation and attention to detail with the ability to use their initiative
• Good computer skills and the comfort and ability to learn and use a range of new systems
• Loyalty, reliability, dedication, trustworthiness and commitment, along with a positive attitude and a proactive approach
• Adherence to health and safety, hygiene, quality and compliance regulations at all times
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• A strong desire to live and work in Hokitika
• Physically fit with the ability to regularly lift and move 25kg bags of milk powder
• Knowledge of laboratory methods and techniques and any previous practical experience in a research or commercial laboratory would be beneficial.
