Westland Milk Products Looking for Maintenance Team Lead at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand Full Time

Our Role

Based at Rolleston and reporting to our Senior Production Manager, we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Team Lead to lead and develop our engineering team (4 direct reports) and contractors in our UHT and RO plants. With the team working across an interesting variety of plant and machinery, no two days will be the same as you guide the team, ensuring the completion of a wide range of maintenance activities across a manufacturing site.

More specifically responsibilities include:-

• Scheduling and setting work priorities for the team and contractors on a day-to-day basis.
• Working alongside the reliability engineer on development and execution of corrective and preventative maintenance activities.
• Working with systems for the management and documentation of work performed, ensuring that it meets the required standards.
• Growing skills and capabilities as a team and within the team through team meetings, personal development plans. KPI setting and one on one’s.
• Ensuring that Health and Safety is a top priority.
• Managing shift rosters, ensuring that coverage is maintained sufficient to meet business requirements.

Our applicants will ideally possess:-

• Well-developed leadership skills ideally gained through previous experience in a people leadership or supervisory position
• National Certificate in a trade level 4, electrical and/or mechanical trade qualification (preferred)
• Prior plant and equipment maintenance and repairs experience in a manufacturing environment – ideally FMCG, dairy or similar
• Excellent communication skills
• General knowledge of process and engineering systems and techniques

This is an exciting role with fantastic variation, where you will be pro-active and positive, with a problem-solving outlook. The ability to lead and mentor our people is key, and the ability to jump on the tools and lead the way if required will be the icing on the cake. Previous experience in an electrical or mechanical field is preferred and the ability to maintain a positive Health& Safety culture is essential.
