Mō te tūranga | About the role
In this key Software Developer role in the Everyday Banking Product Group, you will provide technical leadership and expertise to the squads, ensuring we build in-line with modern best practices.
In the Everyday Banking product group, we strive to deliver frictionless experiences for our customers in managing their money. This spans the entire customer journey from initial onboarding to provisioning accounts and cards and providing products that are simple, safe and support our customer’s day to day needs.
We need your help to replace legacy platforms with modern, loosely coupled architecture that are simple and safe to enhance and maintain. Your experience and knowledge of modern tooling and best practice as well as your enthusiasm to learn and apply new and emerging technologies in reliable and resilient solutions, will be instrumental in helping to uplift our capability as well as designing and building solutions yourself to ensure the best customer outcomes
You are someone that is aware of business, infrastructure, and technical issues to aid in the development and implementation of innovative solutions and anticipate future direction in the tech industry. Your ability to communicate a vision to technical and not-so-technical stakeholders and your ability to listen and adapt to emerging requirements will bring that vision to life.
While our legacy platforms are predominantly based on Java, new-build micro-services could be implemented in Go, C# (.net 5 / core), Rust or a mix of tech on a best-fit basis. Your experience in one or more of these technologies will be partnered with an enthusiasm for exploring and learning the others. While we still have to operate and maintain current system health we need someone who can find the opportunities to do this using modern development patterns and advocate for better delivery practices.
Above all, we believe in simplification and want you to help us drive this, to deliver resilient software faster and more frequently.
This is a role for which we would normally expect several years of relevant experience. We don’t have a minimum number in mind as this will vary according to what you have been doing in that time. Quite simply, if this role speaks to you and you feel ready for the challenge, we are eager to talk to you.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
Full Stack Java including Spring, Spring Boot or similar
Micro-service design, specification, and implementation
RESTful Api design, specification, and implementation

Ideally you will also have knowledge and experience of:
