We are looking for a Senior Database Engineer to join our Data Practices team. As a member of the Data Practices team, you will assist our software teams with data architecture and ensure that best practices are understood and followed. In addition, you will work closely with our product families and engineering teams to mentor and help others improve their knowledge and skill sets. Your expertise will be central to solving various programmatic data challenges, researching new technologies, and implementing prototypes to ensure we continue to improve and adapt to modern challenges.

The Role
Data Architecture and Coaching
Work with our engineering teams to ensure optimal, scalable, and secure data architecture solutions are implemented.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle.
Review data-focused pull requests for development teams, ensuring best practices are understood and followed.
Work with our product families to ensure we are headed in the same technological direction for our data needs.
Assist in the career development of peers by mentoring engineering colleagues to improve their data-related coding skill sets.
Hands-on Engineering
Work on large enterprise project from the ground up. Examples of such projects may include implementing a cloud Data Lake or breaking up a database into bounded contexts for micro services.
Research new technologies to ensure we continue to adapt and improve where it is practical to do so. This includes work on prototypes, and making recommendations to leadership for future technology adoption.
Continue to develop your knowledge and abilities in relevant specializations such as Azure.
Maintain and improve our existing database CI/CD pipeline.
The Requirements
5+ years of data engineering experience.
Strong SQL background with a preference for SQL Server.
Strong understanding of industry best practices for database development.
Great skills to have, but not required: Cloud experience with a preference for Azure, No SQL, PowerShell, Power BI, Python, and experience with an infrastructure as code technology such as Terraform.
Experience working with cross-organizational teams to complete enterprise projects.
