Summary

We have an exciting opportunity an Education Employment Adviser to join the team on a 2 year fixed term contract working 25 hours per week.

The team serves to support young people gain the skills and confidence to re-engage in education, employment and training.

About the role

This role is part of the Stay Close model which provides an enhanced support package for young people leaving care from children’s homes.

The role of the Stay Close Education, Employment Adviser will be to develop a trusted relationship with young people, supporting them to secure a place in education or employment and for them to sustain that place. The role will involve collaborating with providers and employers and facilitating opportunities within the council itself for example work experience, favourable applications for jobs and apprenticeships.

The impact will be an increase in the number of young people in employment, education and training, including through support gaining work experience, with application forms and advice and guidance.

About you

To join this highly motivated and driven team you need to have experience of working with young people. You will have the ability to build rapport and motivate through a variety of communication methods. You need to demonstrate a good understanding of the barriers faced by young people and of the educational system, post 16 and 18 learning opportunities and employability skills.

This role involves travelling countywide.

Interviews will be held on 30th January from County Hall, Trowbridge.

Where possible interviews are virtual, but due to the nature of this role interviews will be in person. Current public health advice is followed for candidate and employee safety.
