The Localization Organization handles all localization and translation needs for Workday, including its vast product suite, marketing content, documentation, training guides, and many other assets. We allow multinational and single-language customers to have a uniform user experience regardless of where their users are located. Our language offering is nearing 40 languages, with more coming every year. Our team is located across the globe in a highly interconnected and productive environment, taking advantage of many in-house and third-party tools, and applying both dedicated freelance translators as well as LSPs (language service providers).

Language Services leaders own the quality of our Localization deliverables, including management of quality metrics and growing our vendor capability to constantly improve our quality. This role also requires the management of in-market partner relationships and customer engagement concerning language quality and feedback.

Additionally, Language Services supports the day to day language-specific queries from our vendor channel and mentors our vendors on terminology, style guides and product testing.

• 5+ years of English to Spanish translation and/or review experience
• Native-level proficiency in Spanish
• 5+ years’ experience with translation processes and project management in the software and content field
• 5+ years’ experience working with Global Spanish (es_001 or es-419)
• Deep experience with LQA processes and measures
• Technical ability to assist in troubleshooting issues and communicating requirements
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders around translation-related questions and projects
• A degree in Translations or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
• Demeanor and ability to be successful in a growing and rapidly changing company with a rapidly growing suite of products
• Experience leading translators and reviewers
• Clear and effective interpersonal skills
• Good command of the English language (oral and written)
• Strong knowledge of Translation Management Systems (e.g. SDL Studio, Memsource, XTM, etc.)

• Fluency in Spanish
• A plus – Functional knowledge of Human Capital Management (HCM) or Financials business applications, or Workday products.

• Lead software and content translation projects from English to Spanish and be responsible for the quality of these projects.
• Be prepared to adapt processes in case of the need to translate from a source language other than English.
• Collaborate with vendors, their resources, our internal Program Managers, and our partners to deliver high quality translations.
• Assign and/or help prioritize tasks to translators/reviewers, and follow up with the execution of these tasks in collaboration with the Language Program Manager lead.
• Train and support translators on proprietary and packaged translation tools.
• Perform quality control through review and/or linguistic testing; or oversee these activities when performed by others.
• Own terminology, style and voice of the language and ensure adherence to these guidelines.
• Help translators handle terminology; work to ensure that the terminology is consistent with relevant industry standards.
• Support and/or update the terminology database, check the new terms provided by the translators, and search for context and/or definition whenever appropriate.
• Respond to translators’ queries in a timely manner; make sure the query is reported in Jira if it requires answers from corporate teams.
• Maintain the translation style guide, with participation from other team members, and add relevant sections as scope increases or changes.
• Collaborate with vendors to evaluate, onboard, and train new translation and review resources.
• Acquire and maintain technical knowledge as well as product knowledge in order to support translators and vendors, as well as to interact knowledgeably with internal collaborators and customers.
• Learn, if not already known, the translation tools for documentation and other document types; maintain translation memories and terminology databases.
• In collaboration with the Language Project Manager lead, evaluate terminology change requests from customers and take all appropriate decisions. When a decision is made to accept a change, make sure the change is implemented throughout the system and all documentation, if appropriate.
• Ensure that translation processes and related reporting are completed in time.
• Routinely work with vendors, translators and PMs to resolve queries and issues across all different types of deliverables.
• Collaborate with local developers, technical specialists, consultants, trainers, and sales people regarding translation activities.
• Help identify and pinpoint recurring problems with processes and tools.
• Collect and integrate language feedback from partners and customers.
• Have a full understanding of offerings in your market/language and be prepared to get along with and present to partners and customers on these offerings.
