About The Team

OMSTXN (Object Metadata Server, Transactions) team’s mission is to provide transaction processing capability for all our Workday applications guaranteeing data consistency, high availability, and top performance while continuously working towards improving scalability and resource optimization.

Our team members have strong technical mindset and enjoy taking a broad view to solving sophisticated distributed systems challenges, with deep understanding of the software engineering principles and a keen interest in data analysis.

About The Role

• Design, develop, and maintain distributed software programs for enhancements and new features across multiple disciplines and platforms while considering tradeoffs between data consistency, availability, partitioning, and tolerance.
• Develop and deploy tools in support of debugging a data processing system, including highly concurrent transaction processing, distributed memory management, communication protocols, and efficient distributed data algorithms.
• Research new technologies, and industry advancements to keep abreast of the latest developments and enhance the success of the company.
• Collaborate with workmates on application teams external to OMS organization and peer teams within OMS to successfully rollout feature work to customer environments.

About You

We are looking for a hardworking, creative, and driven Distributed Systems Engineer who can support us in our mission to implement and maintain large scale transaction processing engine.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher, in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
• 3 years of Software Engineering experience
• Java Concurrent programming experience. Multi Threading Concurrency Control Mechanisms (Locks, Isolation levels)
• Strong CS fundamentals(Data structures and Algorithms)

Other Qualifications:

• Performance Tuning and strong understanding of Garbage Collection
• Interest or experience in one or more of the following: Tomcat, Kotlin, MySQL, Redis, Kafka or Zookeeper Unix or Linux experience
• Experience with communication protocols, restful services, microservices
• Experience working with public clouds technologies like AWS, GCP is a plus
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
• Test driven development & System Automation

Workday Pay Transparency Statement – United States

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations in the United States (US) are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $136,000 – $204,000

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $112,500 – $204,000
