This Opportunity

WSP USA is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Office Engineer who will be responsible for supporting Construction Management Services on a long-term rail capital program. The selected candidate will be part of the Construction Management team as a full-time Office Engineer for Transportation Projects in the Metro Washington, DC area.

Your Impact

Job Duties:

• Maintain construction project documentation,
• Responsible for coordinating projects communication including transmittals, requests for information, submittals / shop drawings, meeting minutes, and other correspondence,
• Review work in accordance with applicable codes and standards included in the project drawings and specifications,
• If required, conduct off/on site inspections to ensure conformity to Specifications of all materials and equipment,
• Assist the owner with scheduling and coordinating self-performed and third-party activities,
• Assist the construction management team with the monthly progress payment reviewing and processing,
• Review, verify and maintain daily quantity data for use in processing payments
• Utilize construction management software such as AASHTO’s Field Manager, ProCore, or Primavera Contract Manager,
• Review daily inspection reports (IDR’s) in accordance with the project’s requirements, recording and reporting any deviations from contract documents,
• Prepare periodic reports and keep the CM advised of inspection results, particularly items requiring re-work because of quality deficiencies,
• Provide field measurements and assist in compiling quantity reports for payment of quantities and changes in the work,
• Maintain detailed records of contractor’s performance and progress,
• Conduct “receiving inspections” when material is delivered to the Project to verify that the materials received by the Contractor are accompanied by documentation noted by the source of supply and are in conformance with the Contract Documents,
• Work schedule varies according to job assignments and/or contractor schedules, to include night work, weekends, and holidays,
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

Qualifications:

• High School diploma
• Minimum of 7 years experience in the performance of construction administrative duties,
• Read and comprehend contract documents including plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Experience in heavy civil and facility construction. Rail and Transit experience is a plus.
• A working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials.
• Working knowledge of state and federal safety, environment guidelines and regulations.
• Working skill in operating computer equipment, software programs; read and interpret transit rail, roadway, bridge, and structure plans and contract specifications; maintain detailed records, and communicate effectively with agency, contractor personnel and the public.
• Experience using Word, Excel, and other business software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• College degree

Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
