This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a QA/QC Specialist for our Rochester, NY office. The following location will also be considered: Binghamton, NY or Pittsford, NY. This is an excellent opportunity for a proficient QA/QC or Inspection Specialist with a proven track record to support the expansion of WSP project management capabilities for a national client base in an internationally recognized global firm.

Your Impact

• Identify and report data for Client Quality activities.
• Identify and report Client Project Performance Indicators (KPIs) where health, safety and quality are concerned.
• Responsible for developing, monitoring and reporting compliance activities.
• Work as part of Project Management Office team to perform complex studies and analyze data to identify process improvement opportunities.
• Continuous monitoring of all project related activities to ensure alignment with and adherence to all Quality Management Systems SOP’s.
• Review of all contractor submitted Quality plans prior to construction, ensuring plans adequately cover Client requirements and then monitor activity for adherence to approved plans.
• Attend construction kick-off meetings to encourage and enforce compliance to Client Quality requirements and conduct site visits to monitor compliance activities on all projects.
• Facilitate meetings with both internal and external personnel, training of SOP’s and various miscellaneous initiatives as requested. This includes development and presentation of material to support training, initiatives, etc.
• Assist Project Managers in the development of all project QMS documentation including but not limited to Project Initiation Forms, Charters and Project Management Plans for ultimate presentation to the Steering Committee for approval.
• Regularly visit active project construction sites to ensure compliance to all AVANGRID and Project quality requirements.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or applicable certification with a minimum of 9 years’ experience in project safety, health, environment and/or quality required.
• Essential professional licensure/certification(s).
• Experience with Electric Substation and Electric Transmission Line construction.
• Excellent construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniques.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
• Competent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
• Analytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
• Ability to provide input and feedback to others in the field such as subcontractors and work colleagues to consistently complete tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately according to specifications.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
• This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree
• 3 years of experience with Six Sigma, Quality Management System standards (i.e. ISO-9001, TS-16949, etc.).
• Completed an OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety Course.
• Intermediate or expert computer/software skills to include use of Microsoft Office Suite and Windows.
• Excellent written and communication skills
