WSP is currently initiating a search for a Mid-Atlantic Transit and Rail Market Lead with a focus on our efforts in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
Position Description
WSP has an immediate opening for a District Manager for the Transit & Rail Practice Area. This position is to lead, expand and drive growth for the practice in the Mid Atlantic District. The right candidate will be a highly experienced and dynamic seller-doer leader in the transit & rail/bus market that includes operational and service planning, safety & security, systems engineering, rail vehicles, railroads, bus fleet, facilities, new technologies and transportation demand management. Additionally, they must have proven experience growing and maintaining a successful business operation.
Driving the growth of our business requires the ability to both pursue new work and deliver well on existing work. The role requires the candidate to have a proven track record in leading and winning major pursuits. The role requires the participation in and the development of winning pursuit & bid strategies in addition to ensuring the right technical talent is assigned to pursuits & bids. The successful candidate will also at times manage, and monitor that production work is delivered within scope, schedule and budget. Additionally, this position will participate in assigning appropriate staff are assigned to projects, and will drive innovation to both maximize project margins and deliver value to our clients.
The ideal candidate will provide continuous focus and emphasis on delivering innovation and quality. This position also requires exceptional client relationship skills, to ensure that we are continually understanding and delivering on our clients’ needs. This includes a focus both on internal WSP geographic area offices as well as external client agencies. Working experience with NJ Transit and other regional clients is a plus.
The hiring, development and retention of staff is a central aspect of the role. The candidate will have shared responsible for hiring staff with specialist transit & rail/bus capabilities.
WSP is looking for a self-starter, who can set strategies and achieve results, and can also manage and direct some of the more complex and larger assignments. The position requires this person to work in concert with other Practice Area managers, offices, regions, markets, and business support units to achieve the firm’s overall financial and market success.
